Today cleansing the colon is big business and you can see advertising for this all over the place - in newspapers, magazines, even infomercials on TV. The information
out there can be overwhelming.
Actually as long ago as 800BC the Ancient Greeks were cleansing their colon. In Yoga there are exercises to help cleanse your digestive system. Nowadays, we eat so much
that really isn't good for us and foods that aren't pure and natural. So having an internal body cleanse seems very appropriate.
The Four Main Ways For Cleansing The Colon:
- Colon Hydrotherapy (colonics)
- Enemas
- Colon Cleansing products
- Detox Diet
Cleansing The Colon Details
Colonics can also be called colon hydrotherapy or colonic irrigation. Actually irrigation the best descriptive word in my opinion. You colon is basically flushed
with warm filtered water. As the water is flushed into your system, the muscles of the colon start to contract and thus push out the fecal matter. Of course this is
only done under specially sanitized conditions and the hydrotherapist is certified. Sometimes, to help the process, the hydrotherapist also massages the abdominal area.
Afterwards you can go to the toilet to pass any excess water or stools. This procedure normally takes about an hour and often the hydrotherapist will want to schedule
more visits to affect a complete cleansing the colon.
An enema is similar in that water (and possibly herbs or medication) is passed into the colon once. The main difference being that the enemas only cleanse the lower
part of the colon whereas colonics is more involved and cleanses the whole colon. Also with an enema the water and stools are expressed by the person sitting on the
toilet. Here a trained professional is also not required.
Colon cleansing products are many and varied. You can visit your local health food store, research online or even look at infomercials on the TV.
Another way is to go on a detox diet. Here your doctor or a professional nutritionist can advise you. Generally, a diet of fresh fruit and vegetables for a number
of days or weeks can help detox your system.
Keeping yourself 'clean' and regular is important to your health and doing so can prevent illness and disease.
